About this Event

These sessions are designed exclusively for visitors with accessibility needs. This is to ensure your safety and to enable access between floors via our lift, whilst maintaining social distance on our one-way system around the building. You can read full details on accessibility at The Beaney here.

Welcome back to The Beaney Museum and Galleries!

Following our Covid 19 closure, we are delighted to welcome you back to the museum and we have made some adjustments to keep you safe and comfortable.

Your new Beaney experience will take you around through a one way system to visit the upstairs People and Places gallery, the Drawing Room, Colour & Camouflage, Study, and Explorers & Collectors gallery before returning downstairs to visit the Garden Room before exiting out on Canterbury High Street.

Your walk through will be accompanied by a family friendly gallery trail to help you get the most out of the galleries you visit. We estimate your experience will take approximately one hour. Please book a ticket for each member of your visiting party, including children.

Our visitor toilet facilities will not be available at this time so please think about this before arriving. There are public toilets available to the side of the building accessible via Orange Street Car Park.

Portable seating is also available to pick up from the Atrium. Visitors will need to carry their seat around with them and drop it off at The Garden Room at the end of their visit so it can be disinfected.

There will be a free buggy check-in service available for visitors with prams and pushchairs.

You can find out more about what to expect when visiting by watching our safety orientation video and reading our visitor FAQs.

These special daily sessions are for those with specific accessibility needs, as they have a reduced capacity in which the lift will be operational. Alternatively, you can find our Standard Entry Advance Booking event here.

Entry is free but if you feel able to make a donation online when booking it would be greatly appreciated. You can make a donation here.

Your donation enables us to continue to look after our city’s rich heritage and preserve our building and collection for future generations to enjoy.

*Please note The Beaney Cafe remains temporarily closed until further notice. Please bear with us as we reopen The Beaney in phases to ensure the safety of our visitors. Visit thebeaney.co.uk for regular updates.
