A little bit about James Twigger

Being born and bred in Torbay, James spent many years as some of the Westcountry’s finest accountancy firms, working closely with local business owners to grow and achieve their objectives. Having been brought up in one of Paignton’s largest hotels, he has been involved in business from a very young age which has given him a unique perspective of the leisure and tourism sector, the largest industry in the English Riviera.

James is a Chartered Accountant and owner ofTwigger Business Solutions with broad experience in all aspects of accounting, tax and financial management. In 2015, James won the Practitioner of the Year Award at the British Accountancy Awards, in recognition of his work both as an accountant and through his work with the local business community, including setting up #TorbayHour on social media.

Working with businesses of all types throughout South Devon and beyond, we help our clients by streamlining their accounting systems through the use of cloud accounting packages, such as Xero & QuickBooks, as well as ensuring they are compliant with all HMRC legislation, such as MakingTaxDigital (MTD).

To bring with you:

If you are currently trading you must bring with you a copy of your Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR) Number that you will have received when you registered with HMRC. We need this to show our funders that you are a real business so that we can provide this workshop at no cost to you.

There will also be some additional paperwork that you need to complete at the workshop. A Business Advisor will be on hand on the day to assist you if required.

Organised by

Award winning business support for start ups and growing businesses.

As part of the UK Government’s Levelling Up agenda, Torbay has been allocated £1.76 million to spend on local investment through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. We’re using our portion to support local businesses, boost opportunities for local people and create spaces for communities to enjoy. With this funding, we’re working hard to increase people’s life chances and create a Torbay where people are proud to live, work and visit.

Torbay Council is managing Torbay’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund Investment Plan, overseeing procurement, allocating funding and managing the contracts to those organisations delivering the projects.

We’ve aligned our Investment Plan to Torbay’s Economic Growth Strategy 2022-30, ensuring that economic growth is prioritised and achieved in a sustainable way that protects our naturally inspiring bay.
