Accounting Officers’ Responsibilities Roundtable

This roundtable will enable Accounting Officers, Additional Accounting Officers and those who are about to be appointed into either of these roles to discharge effectively their responsibilities for the use of public money and accounting to Parliament.

The session is aimed at providing newly appointed accounting officers with an initial insight and understanding of their roles and responsibilities. The training, led by HMT and is attended by up to twelve new chief executive officers and permanent secretaries. It covers the four accounting officer standards of regularity, propriety, value for money and feasibility including accounting officer assessments, ministerial and board directions as well as engaging with the National Audit Office and Public Accounts Committee. It’s also an opportunity to hear first-hand from other new accounting officers their challenges and concerns.

After you have signed up here, Leadership College for Government (LCG) will send you a calendar invitation, joining instructions and all relevant materials.
