Become an Accredited Youth Coach Practitioner
With Robert Stephenson, Head of Training and Coaching at Animas
If you're interested working with young people to inspire them, challenge them and make a difference in their lives, then we'd love to introduce you to the world of youth coaching.
The challenges of youth coaching are often very different from those that face adult-oriented coaches. Single session interventions, challenges of motivation, attendance issues, a shared vocabulary, rapidly changing priorities, potential behavioural issues - all these things make youth coaching a unique challenge.
Before becoming the head of training and coaching at Animas, Robert Stephenson was a full-time coach within schools, pupil referall units, youth centres and other youth based environments. He knows his stuff!
Indeed, there is almost not a single school in London where Robert hasn't either coached young people or run developmental workshops.
And now, in this one off event, we want to bring the specific skills needed for youth coaching to qualified coaches.
This is your chance to become an Accredited Youth Coach Practitioner.
Over the course of two days, you’ll learn and play with a range of youth-specific models some based on existing principles of Brief Coaching, others developed uniquely around Robert's direct experience.
Having faced every conceivable issue in this field from the classic problem of making an impact in single session, to young people's level of motivation to be in coaching, to working with family conflict or the competing needs of schools, Robert brings a wealth of practical wisdom to the reality of youth coaching - not just the theory.
To ease you in to the youth coaching world, Robert will start by setting some context around youth coaching including:
- What youth coaching is and how it can work alongside practices that already exist in this field
- What it can add to your work with young people
- The impact it makes and the issues you can work with as a youth coach
- How you can work successfully as an independent youth coach
You’ll then dive in to specific skills including:
- The ENGAGE approach to getting young people engaged in the work you do together
- The 3Fs Dynamic Model - to help you and the young person really understand their world
- The INSPIRE Model to begin to create progress and focused action
You’ll also cover some of the most frequently asked questions we hear about how to practise your skills, the legal considerations, knowing your boundaries of competence and more.
This is sure to be a fabulous, fun and inspirational day and we're sure that you will love it.
Places are very limited and we are only running this ONCE so please book ASAP to avoid missing out.

The course is accredited by the International Coach Federation with 12 CCE points.
