About this event

Topic: Happiness

Dates: 13th March 2021.

Time: 2pm

Duration: Up to 2 hours

Spaces Available: 20

About the Host: I am a performance artist, screening acting coach and founder of the ACEAH (Anne's Creatives' Encouragement and Advice Hotline), dedicated to empowering creatives of colour in nurturing their craft. I have a background in Acting and Global Theatre from Regent’s University and an MA Acting for Screen from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. I am a practicing screen acting tutor and I have worked as a film director with students from some of the top institutions for performance education in the UK including Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and Arts Educational University. My passion is storytelling through the medium of film.

Who is this class for:

  • Creatives who are keen on meeting new people.
  • Creatives who might feel a little bit lost in their journey and think they'd benefit from hearing an alternative perspective.
  • Creatives keen on engaging in constructive evaluation of our current global and industrial climate and how that has affected our creativity.

Requirements:

  • An open mind
  • Pen and paper

Your ZOOM LINK will be available 1 hour before the event begins.

DISCLAIMER:

  • This session is NOT OPEN to any students currently studying at the Identity School of Acting. However, do feel welcome to engage and/or join my sessions when you have completed your studies there.
  • Your Zoom link is not to be shared. Unregistered or un-ticketed participants will not be permitted to enter class.
  • I am NOT a licensed medical or healthcare professional. This event is my endeavour to facilitate an introduction between you and myself and also create a safe space where we can all share our journey's and learn from one another. My advice and guidance is influenced by my own experiences, how I have come to understand the industry in its current climate and historical context. I encourage you to exercise your own judgment wisely and feel free to take what resonates with you and leave what doesn't. You are most welcome to come and listen, you are not obligated to share any confidential information. Protect your peace of mind, be aware of your own limits/triggers and participate at your own discretion.
  • I am a certified mentor, trained in Leadership and in Innovation so have professional experience navigating workshop and teaching spaces with sensitivity, kindness and a focus that can help people stay on track with their task at hand. I am committed to creating a safe space for creatives to connect to and grow together.
  • TRIGGER WARNINGS: Just as a general note when creating given circumstances or bringing in a scene, please be aware to provide a trigger warning or notify beforehand if you think your scene contains strong and explicit language, reference to violence, derogatory terms of any sort but especially those that pertain to ethnicity or culture, references to abuse, sexual assault or suicide. Our learning space needs to be a safe space, although we want to embody different realities and experiences we need to be mindful about how the work can affect or trigger others in the learning space.
  • I will be offering the same class on each of the hosted days, so I would encourage you all not too double book in order to give others a chance to participate.
  • Unless otherwise agreed, recorded footage will be solely used for private and educational purposes. It is a tool for participants to view their progress.
  • This class and movement has been designed for creatives of colour, however I welcome allies into this space as I have designed a space that is in it's own essence meant to be inclusive.
  • A message to allies who are keen on going the extra mile: I ask all allies to encourage their BAME friends to come to this course, so they can benefit off of a lesson structure that was created with them in mind.
