‘Achieving excellence by utilising STRENGTHS’
Wed 10 May 2017, 08:00 – 10:00 BST
Join us to find out more about Strengths - one of the fastest growing trends in HR, Talent and OD. But despite its current popularity the Strengths approach is not a new one. Peter Drucker, commonly known as the ‘father’ of modern management wrote about the importance of strengths in the 1960’s and how if organisations leveraged their strengths and tolerated weaknesses they would perform better. Martin Seligman in the late 1990’s started to actively promote the notion of positive psychology, and with his colleagues, studied the science of ‘what goes right in life’ (Peterson, 2005). Since then, many researchers and practitioners have built evidence of validity in employing positive practices in the workplace. Not only that, but the 2017 Global Deloitte Human Capital Trends report highlights, amongst many things that 'High-performing companies have found ways to enrich the employee experience, leading to purposeful, productive, meaningful work'.
We will explore what it means to adopt a Strengths based approach in recruitment, development, coaching, performance management and culture.
In this taster seminar we’ll explore the theory behind the Strengths based approach, you’ll get to consider your own personal strengths, bust some common myths and begin to get into the detail of how you might apply this approach making a lasting difference to the culture and performance of your organisation.
The seminar will be opened by our host Rebecca Fielding, MD of Grad Consult, and led by Maria Salkeld, Quirky Bird Consulting Ltd, an accredited Strengths practitioner, leadership consultant & coach passionate about the Strengths approach.
We’ll have pots of coffee and fresh croissants from 8.00am with the seminar running from 8.30 – 10.00am. It’s FREE to come, but places are limited so book soon! Any questions just drop us a note at email@example.com.
We look forward to seeing you there!
