Workshop focused on the key skills needed in manufacturing to achieve net zero, including practical examples, workshops, and case studies

About this event

While nearly all UK manufacturers are aware of the UK Government’s national target to be net zero by 2050 and are optimistic about reaching it, several key challenges remain. About a third of UK manufacturers do not believe their workforce is currently equipped with the skills needed to do so.

Agenda

  • 10:00 – 10:10 – Introduction (EKC Group)
  • 10:10 – 10:20 - Demystifying net zero (HSSMI)
  • 10:20 – 10:40 - Key skills needed in manufacturing to achieve net zero (inlcuding green jobs and challenges)
  • 10:40-11:10 - Examples of how new technologies and Innovative thinking have supported businesses to reduce their carbon footprint

Parallel workshops

  • 11:10 – 11:30 - Workshop A: How do we upskill today’s students to guarantee the success of tomorrow’s workforce?
  • 11:10 – 11:30 - Workshop B: What is the relationship between decarbonisation and digital skills?
  • 11:30 – 11:50 – Exchange ideas from workshops
  • 11:50 – 12:00 – Close out

The workshop will feature leading speakers from the industry. These will be announced closer to the event.
