Achieving Trustworthy Innovation in AI
Date and time
The UK Mission to the EU, CDEI and CEPS are delighted to invite you to join our discussion and reception event at Scotland House.
About this event
Achieving an approach to AI governance that enables trustworthy innovation is a key issue for policymakers, innovators and civil society in the EU and the UK. In the last two years, there has been a proliferation of international activity on AI regulations and governance. In the EU, negotiations have started on the proposed AI Act with a sizable global impact. The UK’s AI Strategy sets out an ambitious path for the UK to develop and use trustworthy AI, protecting consumers and citizens while increasing confidence and investment in AI technologies. As the AI sector matures there has been increasing discussion on how standards and 'assurance' tools such as audits, certification, and impact assessments, might help to ensure AI deployment is both trusted and trustworthy.
Join us as we look at the role of technical standards and certification, the wider regulation landscape, as well as some of the key ways that an 'AI Assurance Ecosystem' can help support responsible AI, and areas of potential collaboration between EU-UK.
The event will include presentations by Ghazi Ahamat, AI Assurance Lead at the UK Centre for Data Ethics and Innovation, and Stephanie Ifayemi, Head of Digital Standards Policy at UK Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), followed by a panel discussion moderated by Professor Andrea Renda (Head of Global Governance, Regulation, Innovation and the Digital Economy at CEPS), featuring speakers Axel Voss MEP, Bojana Bellamy (President of the Centre for Information Policy Leadership), Alberto Di Felice (Director for Infrastructure, Privacy & Security Policy at DIGITALEUROPE), and Natasha Crampton (Chief Responsible AI Officer, Office of Responsible AI, Microsoft).
The event will be held in person at Scotland House in Brussels, followed by a reception. The main presentations and panel discussion will also be livestreamed.
Details to follow upon registration.
