ACHIEVING YOUR GOALS - Cambridge CIPD Group

As the New Year starts many of us will be thinking about setting goals in our personal and professional lives for the year ahead.
Cambridge CIPD are delighted to be able to offer the opportunity to hear how Gold Medal Paralympian, Clare Cunningham, has reached the pinnacle in her sport as well as achieving great success in the corporate world.
Clare is currently in training for Rio and has generously given up her precious training time to venture out on a January evening. Clare will share with us her experience of being born without one forearm and being brought up with a mind-set that she could do anything irrespective of a disability.
Clare will tell us of her determination, not giving up and having the ambition to want be a swimmer then subsequently a triathlete and to compete at the Paralympic Games. Having won one gold and four silver medals at the Paralympics in 1992 in swimming, Clare achieved her goals at a young age and moved to the commercial world. She trained as a Chartered Accountant and then became a Forensic Accountant for Deloitte, applying her skills and experience to a new environment with great success. Clare is now a world title holding triathlete and has needed to equip herself with new skills in cycling and running. Through her efforts and strong mind-set, Clare has now qualified for Rio.
Teamwork is absolutely key to achieving in sport with coaches, family, support services, nutritionists and psychologists, all playing their part. Clare will explain how her skills and experiences through sport have been transferred into the workplace in terms of time management, teamwork, the need for feedback and reflection.

Registration begins at 6pm with a light buffet served. The event will start at 6.30pm.
