About this event

The terracotta front may look like a merchant bank, but enter its big blue front doors, walk up the Minton tiled stairway and you find 28,000 square feet of industry and making.

On this tour you will be given access to three floors in a busy working factory. You will be shown the production process and examples of the many whistles that are on order. We will also show you some other more surprising features like the work bench of the great inventor and company founder Joseph Hudson, an inspirational violin and the first rattles and police whistles. There are many different whistles and you will hear the lion roar, the dangerous duck call, the clangers whistle, whistles from the TITANIC and the cyclists’ road clearer.

In a recent exciting development, Hudson’s & Co. have been able to track down a very rare item of military history that we produced for US paratroopers to use during the D-Day Landings, the ACME clicker. This incredibly rare piece of military history is now on display at our factory.

You will be welcomed by the director of Hudson & Co, Simon Topman, and after refreshments, he will take you on a tour of the factory which will last about an hour. This tour is for adults and children must be over 10 and accompanied by an adult.

All monies raised through this guided tour will be donated to Mayfield Special School - https://mayfield.eiat.org.uk/ and the Ladywood Community Project - https://www.ladywoodcommunityproject.org.uk/
