The North East ACostE are delighted to present an “Insight Event” and we welcome contractors and members of the supply chain to join us for an update from British Steel and Sabic on their procurement, tendering and buying strategy as well as on going and future projects in the Teesside area. The event will provide the opportunity to network with other contractors and to learn more about opportunities on Teesside and how best to get involved! The event is open to members and Non – Members with the sole aim of facilitating growth and success in the North East region.

Andrew T Wilson - Sr Manager, Procurement Regional Category TG&S, Europe Procurement SABIC UK Petrochemicals Limited
Andrew T Wilson, a senior manager in SABIC’s Global Procurement Services organization, has responsibility for the Regional Technical Goods and Services team who manage the category and contracts across SABIC’s European manufacturing sites. With a background as a Project Manager and Engineer in the Petrochemicals sector, Andrew has a good understanding of the sectors needs and is interested in how they are best met by the most effective engagement with third party suppliers and contractors.
Lorraine Sawyer – Procurement Director BRITISH STEEL
Providing an introduction to British Steel, including regional projects and possible opportunities for the supply chain.Lorraine is the procurement director for British Steel and has been in post for 2 years. Previous roles were managing the procurement of all services for the UK business, having been in the steel industry for c13 years.
Lorraine manages a portfolio of spend of c £400m p/a and lead a team of 55 people to deliver the requirements to the business in the goods, services, process materials and capital projects area. She is passionate about keeping manufacturing and heavy industry in the UK and ensuring the industry thrives to create jobs for the future.

Providing an overview of the successful delivery of the multi-million pound project to build a new road bridge over the River Wear in Sunderland. This project comprised the design and construction of a new three-span, cable stayed bridge over the River Wear in Sunderland. Works included utility diversions, ground works and demolition works on-site.
