About this Event

A distinct country vibe for this gig...

____

The Blue Moon Two

The Blue Moon Two are a vocal and guitar duo. Their original songs are influenced by a whole range of styles including Country, Folk, Rockabilly, Rock & Roll, Alt Country & Americana. With full respect to tradition they strive for their own twist on the music without losing the original spirit.

The duo is fronted by Kirsty Brown whose voice is steeped in the traditions of the genre. Whether laying down a sultry and smoky blues tone, a sweet melodic country twang, or a full on rockabilly holler, Kirsty’s delivery has wowed audiences wherever she has sung. She backs her versatile and powerful vocals with rock solid, intricate guitar rhythms that drive the whole Blue Moon Two sound. This sound is complemented by the guitar playing of Jared Hazelby. Jared is heavily influenced by the early rockabilly, and country guitar players such as Scotty Moore, Grady Martin, Cliff Gallup, James Burton and Joe Maphis. He infuses the sound with bopping melodic lead lines that conjure the vibe of Sun Studios or veer off to Nashville, Louisiana or Texas as and when required.

Together, The Blue Moon Two have created an exciting sound that authentically captures the spirit of these influences, while adding their own twist to the mix.

JANA

JANA is a Slovak-raised singer-songwriter and multi instrumentalist based in London. Her music takes you into a world of self-reflection, contemplating loss and gain, roaming and searching for home and fascination with the unknown. ‘Well-traveled’ folk of Paul Simon with the intimacy of Tracey Chapman (Folk & Honey), all tied together with her pure vocals attract comparisons to Joni Mitchell and Karen Carpenter. Her EP ‘Lanterns’ is out now.

A really classy sound, a fascinating mixture of styles and really original, as are the lyrics “ Paul Sexton (Billboard Magazine)

Malcolm MacWatt

As the driving force behind London country-rock band The Glass Mountains, Malcolm MacWatt has already gained recognition for his powerful song-writing. But it’s as a solo performer, swapping out his telecaster for an acoustic guitar, where his story-telling comes to the fore, often with brutal clarity. He writes about love, loss, guilt and loneliness with recurring themes of home, connection and family. By paring songs down to the absolute minimum he allows the lyrics and melodies to take priority. A 4 Star review for his latest album “Three Truths and The Chord” in Maverick Magazine further reinforces his songwriter credentials.

Age 12 and getting into the guitar, Malcolm first heard Johnny Cash at San Quentin and was immediately hooked into country music, especially the more traditional, folk elements with roots stretching back across the Atlantic to Britain and Europe.

“Country is heart, guts and soul music, born out of difficult times, and I try to keep that in my writing,” he says. “In one way or another I’ve lived my songs. They’re very personal and honest but at every gig people always tell me how they relate to them… I love when that happens.”

“A heartfelt album that really hits the spot… with MacWatt really stepping up on this album and making his talent known” 4 Stars, Maverick Magazine

"Powerful performance of original Americana inspired songs, with hard-hitting, political lyrics" The Acoustic Folk Highway

"I love Malcolm's songs. Brilliant songwriter..." Keren Morrall, Forever British Country
