Acquisition and Accessioning with Object Entry
Overview
In this session we will focus on the procedures involved in assessing and documenting:
- Objects that are left in your care for any reason (Object entry).
- New acquisitions (Acquisition and accessioning).
We will examine themes such as policy, accountability, decision-making and capturing written evidence of transfer of title. There will be opportunities to ask questions during the session, as well as share ideas with other attendees.
By the end of the session, delegates will:
- Understand how the Spectrum 5.1 procedures Object entry and Acquisition and accessioning apply in different scenarios and how your museum might implement them successfully.
- Understand the role of the Spectrum standard in relation to museum Accreditation.
- Know where to find more information and guidance.
Before the session:
- If you have not already done so, read the introduction to Spectrum for context – https://collectionstrust.org.uk/spectrum/spectrum-5/
- Think about how you do things in your museum, referring to your relevant policy and procedures if you have access to them. You might also find it useful to have these with you to refer to during the session.
