Event description

Description

Big Brum TIE and the BCU Drama MTL are holding a joint event exploring Drama and Education.

An admin fee of between £10 and £15 will be payable on the door; this helps cover workshops, refreshments and a buffet lunch.

The event brings drama teachers and practitioners together for a day of focussed reflection.

As part of this, there will be opportunities for participants:

To learn from and feed back on research being undertaken as part of the BCU Drama Masters in Teaching and Learning;
To engage with Big Brum’s current practice, thinking and programmes … and to develop ideas together in relation to them about the nature and purpose of Drama;
To engage with and participate in the ongoing Big Brum and BCU community of practice in Drama Education;
To contribute to a strategic evaluation on the impacts of TIE on young people and schools;
To find out more about the BCU and Big Brum MTL in Drama;
To celebrate Big Brum’s arrival at its new base in Sheldon Heath.

Workshops and presentations include:

  • Big Brum TIE – Macbeth, Fleance and the nature of Drama

  • People and Organisation – making the case for theatre visits to schools

  • Orlagh Russell – Divergent and Convergent Thinking in KS3 students

  • Lee Samuels – Case study of LGB teachers in the Midlands
