Event description

Description

HOW WILL IT WORK?

Which of us knows what it’s like to kill a king? Or be betrayed by 3 daughters? Luckily we don’t have to.

Starting with games and play we’ll learn how to break big bits of text down into mouth-watering details and simple tasks so that you can play honestly and economically, with no need to resort to big and shouty. As a wise Russian once said: “Act for half your wages”.

Bring a piece of text if you want.

ABOUT SIMON:

Simon has acted with the RSC and Shared Experience, at Chichester, Birmingham, Bath, and all over the place with Propeller, with whom he did five productions, including Puck in Midsummer Night’s Dream, Hermione in The Winter’s Tale, and Kate in Taming of the Shrew. He has shared a stage with a puppet as Winston Smith in 1984 (Blind Summit), and with a puppet of himself in The Double by Dostoyevsky (Bath), for which he was nominated for Best Performance in the UK Theatre Awards.

He is a translator from French, German and Spanish (Our Private Lives at the Royal Court, Scorched at the Old Vic Tunnels) and a writer (for BBC R3 and R4), and has directed at LAMDA, E15, Mountview and Rose Bruford.
