Who is Action for Conservation (AFC)?

Action for Conservation (AFC) is a UK environmental action charity that works with young people across the UK to inspire the next generation of environmental leaders. We run free programmes for young people, including our free residential Summer Camps.

Who can apply to an AFC Summer Camps?

Accepted Answer

Any young person aged 12-16 living in England or Wales can apply for a place our Summer Camps if their 12th Birthday falls on or after the first day of camp.

How do I apply for a place at an AFC Summer Camp?

Where are the AFC Summer Camps?

Our camps are located at bunkhouses set in the rural countryside within
three of the UK's National Parks. South West: Stackpole, Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, North West: Ashbourne, Peak District National Park and South East: Lewes, South Downs National Park.

When are the AFC Summer Camps?

Each Camp is 5 days long taking place in July and August 2025 (dates vary depending on the region). Please check the Application Pack linked in the description for more details about dates and locations.

Question 6

When will I know if my application is successful and what Camp I'm attending?

Accepted Answer

After the 5th May deadline the team will review all applications and we will begin to contact successful applicants on the 29th May 2025. If your application is successful, we will allocate you to one of our Camps listed on page 6 of the Application Pack.

Question 7

How much are the Summer Camps?

The camp is all-inclusive, which means accommodation, food and activities are paid for. We will also pay for transportation to the site from the designated pick-up point and the return journey. Campers may bring a small amount of pocket money as there may be opportunities to buy snacks and souvenirs

Question 8

What happens after Camp?

Accepted Answer

All campers have the opportunity to continue their journey with our AFC Ambassador Programme. Ambassadors receive a free year-long mentorship with the AFC team including reunions with their fellow campers, trips, events and guidance to develop their knowledge and skills.
