Event description

Description

Loneliness and isolation are high-priority issues in Wales, reported to affect 1 in 5 adults* across the whole population. How can we work better with local communities to improve their capacity to tackle these issues and improve health outcomes for all ages? In doing so, how can we ensure that marginalised groups, including those in more rural areas or in poorer financial circumstances, are not left behind?

*Samaritans Cymru 2017 survey

On 6th March, join award-winning time-banking social enterprise Tempo to explore how these challenges can be addressed through increasing participation in communities and building voluntary sector capacity and resilience. As part of the conversation, Tempo will be sharing examples of impact from its Active Ageing project, which is funded by the Welsh Government's Sustainable Social Services grant and connects older individuals across Wales with opportunities to contribute to their community and be recognised for their time.

We are excited to be joined by our excellent speakers and panellists for the day :

  • Ian Merrill, Tempo CEO

  • Karen Sankey, Clinical Director at The Community Care Collaborative in Wrexham

  • Mark John-Williams, Co-Director Flintshire DO-IT Building Communities Co-ordinator of Care and Repair North East Wales

The panel discussion will be followed by a short Q&A where we welcome you to join in on the conversation.

We would love to see you all for tea, coffee and networking after the event.

Please feel free to invite friends and colleagues you think would be interested in attending.
