About this event

The project, which is run in collaboration with Sport England, is designed to get little legs moving, by engaging with their local environments. Following on from the summer Muddy Wellies groups, these activity sessions - aimed at under 5s - will look to kick-start a lifelong love of activity and exercise in the outdoors.

Research overwhelmingly proves that two of the key enablers of wellbeing and great health are exercise and engagement with the outdoors. These sessions are designed to incorporate movement-based activities in a natural environment with little ones developing and growing strength and dexterity by interacting with the habitats and flora and fauna at Rainton Meadows Nature Reserve.

The sessions will run on Thursdays in six week blocks. Attendees are very welcome to return for repeat blocks of activities.

Please come appropriately dressed for outdoor activities linked to the weather on the day.

  • The visitor centre has toilets, a gift shop and a café.
  • Ticket only required for children.
  • Children must be accompanied by an adult throughout the session.
  • Suitable for ages 2-5 years.
  • All other resources for activities will be provided by Durham Wildlife Trust.
