An experiential active listening course in which you will:

  • Gain a basic understanding of neuroscience and what happens to a child’s brain when anxious, worried, stressed or excited

  • Understand what causes a child to have a meltdown

  • Learn how to help a child regulate their emotions

  • Learn how we can listen more effectively and as a result have children listen to us

  • Acquire strategies to support conflict resolution and enable children to problem solve

  • Have an opportunity to practice techniques

  • To reflect on your own experience and how this impacts on your ability to listen effectively

  • Learn how to bring a Whole School Approach to Listening to Your School

Training Objectives:

  • To have a greater understanding of how the brain works and what happens when we are distressed

  • Have a greater understanding of how to support children to regulate their emotions

  • Learn how to listen with empathy

  • Feel more confident to support children with conflict resolution and problem solving

Who should attend: Educational professionals eg Assistant/Deputy Head teachers, Teachers, Teaching Assistants, Inclusion Managers, SENCOs, Designated Teachers, Pastoral Leads. This course will be of particular interest to those working with socially and emotionally vulnerable children and young people
