Course Description:

This practical course supports activity and care team members home in designing and delivering inclusive sessions that engage individuals with a wide range of physical, cognitive, and sensory abilities. Participants will explore strategies to adapt activities to individual needs, encourage participation, and encourage a sense of community and belonging. The course emphasises flexibility, creativity, and a person-centred approach to ensure every individual has the opportunity to take part meaningfully.

Course Aim:

To enable participants to confidently plan and deliver inclusive group activities that are adaptable to residents with varying abilities and needs.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Recognise the diverse needs and abilities of individuals and how these impact engagement in group activities.
  2. Design activity plans that include flexible options and levels of participation to suit mixed-ability groups.
  3. Utilise inclusive communication and facilitation techniques that encourage engagement and reduce barriers to participation.
  4. Evaluate and adjust activities in response to feedback and observation to ensure ongoing relevance and accessibility.

Certificates of attendance will only be issued to attendees who attend for the whole of the session.This course will be delivered via ZOOM and will include, presentations, discussion and reflection, case studies, videos and demonstrations. Please make sure that you are familiar with using ZOOM.
