Course Description:This course provides activity and care team members with tools and strategies to use storytelling and life story work to enhance connection, identity, and emotional wellbeing among individuals. It covers reminiscence, digital storytelling, and ethical considerations when gathering personal histories.

Aim:To empower participants to use storytelling techniques that honour individuals' pasts and promote person-centred care.

Learning Outcomes:By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

  1. Describe the benefits of life story work, citing at least two research-informed outcomes.
  2. Facilitate a one-on-one or group storytelling session using structured prompts or memory aids.
  3. Develop a personalised life story profile for one individual, with at least five biographical details.
  4. Apply two ethical guidelines when collecting and sharing individuals' stories.

Certificates of attendance will only be issued to attendees who attend for the whole of the session.This course will be delivered via ZOOM and will include, presentations, discussion and reflection, case studies, videos and demonstrations. Please make sure that you are familiar with using ZOOM.
