Course Description:
This course introduces activity and care team members to simple, effective mindfulness and relaxation activities. It focuses on creating calm, soothing sessions that promote emotional wellbeing, reduce anxiety, and foster a peaceful environment. Participants will learn how to integrate grounding practices into daily routines and adapt them for residents with a range of cognitive and physical abilities.
Course Aim:
To equip participants with the skills and confidence to lead safe, inclusive mindfulness and relaxation activities that support individuals’ emotional and mental wellbeing.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Explain the benefits of mindfulness and relaxation activities in care settings.
- Facilitate simple, low-pressure mindfulness and relaxation exercises suitable for a range of abilities.
- Adapt relaxation activities to individual needs, including sensory or mobility considerations.
- Create a calming atmosphere that supports ongoing emotional wellbeing through consistent, gentle routines.

Certificates of attendance will only be issued to attendees who attend for the whole of the session.This course will be delivered via ZOOM and will include, presentations, discussion and reflection, case studies, videos and demonstrations. Please make sure that you are familiar with using ZOOM.
