Course Description:

This course focuses on the importance of collaboration with families and multidisciplinary teams to effectively incorporate activity into holistic care plans. Participants will explore strategies for communication, partnership building, and inclusive planning to ensure that activity becomes a meaningful and sustainable part of everyday care. Emphasis is placed on understanding individual needs, supporting carers, and creating a shared culture of wellbeing.

Course Description:

This course explores the value of spiritual and reflective activities in promoting emotional wellbeing, connection, and a sense of meaning, especially within care and support settings. Participants will learn how to create inclusive spaces for reflection, support individuals’ spiritual needs (whether religious or non-religious), and facilitate meaningful activities such as meditation, nature-based reflection, storytelling, and quiet contemplation. The course emphasises respect for diverse beliefs and encourages compassionate, person-centred practice.

Course Aim:

To develop participants’ understanding and confidence in planning and delivering spiritual and reflective activities that nurture wellbeing, dignity, and a sense of purpose for individuals in care settings.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Define spirituality in the context of care and understand its importance for holistic wellbeing.
  2. Recognise the diverse spiritual and reflective needs of individuals, including those with no religious affiliation.
  3. Plan and facilitate inclusive spiritual and reflective activities appropriate to different care environments.
  4. Use tools such as guided reflection, nature, music, and symbolic objects to support inner connection and expression.
  5. Create safe, respectful, and supportive spaces that honour personal beliefs and encourage meaningful reflection.
