About this event

Self-guided tours at Acton Court

Admission to Acton Court gives access to the grounds, the Royal Apartments, the ground floor area and any activities that may be taking place on the day*. Audio guides plus visual and written information will be provided.

Learn the history of Acton Court at your own pace with our audio guides. There will be a selection of tours available, each with a different perspective.

*Details of tour activities will be posted on our website and social media as they are announced.

Tour dates

The House and Grounds will be open for tours from Wednesday 1 June to Friday 1 July 2022. Closed Mondays & Tuesdays.

Friday 17 June Charity Day - Ticket proceeds on this day will be donated to St Peter’s Hospice.

Admission times: There will be two time slots 11:00 -13:00 and 14:00 -16:00.

Please arrive within the first hour of your slot. Numbers will be limited.

Admission price: Adult £10.00 plus handling fee. Children, 11 and under, by arrangement, email

The tours: A selection of audio tours recorded by Acton Court’s professional guides cover information that a guided tour would offer. In addition there is a theatrical tour. We hope to provide more specialist tours in the future.

A Walk around the outside of Acton Court with Angela Nutbrown - This tour covers information about the standing building, grounds and garden.

A Visit To the King’s Rooms with Rodger Fowler - Rodger will guide you through the three rooms that were built especially for the visit of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn in 1535. You will also have access to some of the downstairs rooms.

Theatrical Tour: Lady Joan Poyntz as written and told by Brenda Page -The wife of Sir Nicholas Poyntz invites you to visit her home and share memories of her family and the people they knew through the momentous reigns of four Tudor monarchs, from Henry VIII to Elizabeth I.
