Ad Libitum's November concert features works by two great French composers of the 19th and 20th centuries.
Fauré said his sublime Requiem was '...dominated from beginning to end by a very human feeling of faith in eternal rest.' Maurice Duruflé's Quatre motets sur des thèmes grégoriens, written in 1960, are gems among his few published works.
We also feature a piece by contemporary Norwegian composer, Ola Gjeilo. Sanctus has been described as 'atmospheric and intense, featuring contrasts of ethereal melody lines'. The composer says it was inspired by a song from the 90s by singer-songwriter Sting (but leaves you to guess which...)
We hope you will join us for an evening of exciting music, and maybe a glimpse of paradise...
