Description

Ada Lovelace Day is an annual celebration of the achievements of women in science, technology, engineering and maths.

Ada Lovelace Day Live! is our flagship ‘science cabaret’ event which this year will be held at The IET on the evening of Tuesday 8 October. Playing host to the UK’s most fabulous women in STEM, ALD Live! is an entertaining evening of geekery suitable for everyone over the age of 12. If you’d like to enjoy a taster, take a look at our videos from 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014 and 2013!

Our awesome speakers are:

  • Dame Professor Jocelyn Bell Burnell, astrophysicist

  • Dr Bala Chaudhary, ecologist

  • Katie Steckles, mathematician

  • Yolanda Ohene, bio-physicist

  • Hayley Loren, marine engineer

  • Roni Savage, chartered engineering geologist

  • Dr Sally Le Page, evolutionary biologist and science communicator

Our compère will be geek songstress and one third of Festival of the Spoken Nerd, Helen Arney!

You can find out more about our fabulous speakers on our website!

Konnie Huq, who was Blue Peter’s longest running female presenter, will be on hand to sign copies of her new children’s book, Cookie and the Most Annoying Boy in the World. This is a great opportunity to get some personalised Christmas presents bought early, particularly for daughters and granddaughters!

We will once again have the fabulous Vivian Archer from Newham Books on hand to sell you the very best science books by or about women. The book stall will be available from 6:30pm until the performance starts at about 7:30pm.

Lobby doors open at 6.30pm for the book stall, book signing and cash bar. Auditorium doors open at about 7.00pm. The performance will begin at 7.30pm and will run until approximately 9.30pm.

Tickets

Ticket prices are:

  • Early Bird: £10, available until midnight, 10 September - SOLD OUT
  • General Entry: £20, available until midnight, 7 October
  • Concession: £5, available until midnight, 7 October
  • On the door: £25, available until just before the performance starts at 7.30pm

If there are any seats still available when online ticket sales close, you will be able to buy them on the door. Please follow us on Twitter, @findingada, for that announcement.

If you buy a ticket but then cannot attend, please make sure that you cancel your ticket on Eventbrite so that we can refund you and offer your ticket to someone else, as demand for places is always high.

FAQs

Can I bring my children?

Ada Lovelace Day Live! is suitable for children aged 12 or over.

I'm not a woman. Can I come?

Absolutely! All our speakers on stage are women, but the audience is mixed. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Will you finish spot on 9.30pm?

Probably not, no. We try our hardest, but sometimes performers get swept up in the moment and overrun.

How do I get to The IET?

The IET has comprehensive travel information on its website.

Is the venue accessible?

Yes, and The IET has information about accessibility on its website. If you have particular accessibility questions that are not answered here, please email us and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

Oh, no! I bought a ticket and now I can't come!

If you find that you can't come to ALD Live! and would like a refund, please request one through Eventbrite before 1 October. We will only be able to issue a refund after 1 October if there is a waiting list.

If would like your ticket price to become a donation instead, please email us at admin@findingada.com so that we can release your ticket to someone else. And thank you very much for the donation - we are run on a shoestring and every little helps!
