Come along to our fascinating and immersive tech-workshops which celebrate the work of Ada Lovelace, the world’s first computer programmer.

Enchanting Lights: Controlling LEDs
Suitable for: Key stage 2 to adult
Group size: 20 participants
Duration: One hour
Summary: The ‘Enchantress of Numbers” was the nickname that Charles Babbage gave to Ada Lovelace and
how he referred to her in their letter correspondences. Ada resolved to help Babbage realise his
extraordinary vision of the Analytical Machine, using her understanding of how this invention could
transform the world. Will you see the world in a new light?

In this workshop makers will:
● Create and test circuits
● Understand variables and combine elements of circuits to create something new
● Design, write and test an algorithm to control LEDs
● Mixing primary colours to create new shades using RAG values
● Recognise the relationships between Science, Maths, Electronics, Computing and Art &
Design for successful innovation
