Course Description:
This practical and inclusive course explores how to adapt activities to ensure that everyone, regardless of physical, cognitive, or sensory ability, can participate meaningfully. Together we will examine the barriers that may limit engagement and provide creative strategies to modify activities, spaces, and materials to promote inclusion and dignity.
Course Aim:
To enable activity providers and care staff to feel confident to adapt activities to suit a range of abilities, ensuring that all individuals can engage meaningfully and experience a sense of purpose and enjoyment.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Recognise the different factors that may affect a person’s ability to take part in activities (e.g., mobility, cognition, communication, sensory needs).
2. Explain how to adapt activities, environments, and materials to promote inclusion, participation, and success for people with varying abilities.
3. Apply creative problem-solving to modify familiar activities to meet individual needs and preferences.
4. Evaluate the effectiveness of adapted activities and reflect on how to improve engagement for individuals with different levels of ability.

As an attendee of the training day you MUST have your camera on during all of the sessions, this is to verify your participation/attendance.
Certificates of attendance will only be issued to attendees who attend for the whole of the session.This course will be delivered via ZOOM and will include, presentations, discussion and reflection, case studies, videos and demonstrations. Please make sure that you are familiar with using ZOOM.
