Additional Licensing in Peterborough: Information for Agents
Overview
Peterborough City Council has designated a city-wide Additional Licensing Scheme, which will come into force on 26 January 2026 and remain in effect until 25 January 2031.
Letting agents with clients who rent properties in the city must register with Home Safe, the scheme’s delivery partner, before 26 January to enable them to be added to licence applications. Agent registration opens on 2 January 2026.
If you are already registered with Home Safe, you do not need to register again. However, you may find the event useful, as the application process for your clients differs from Selective Licensing.
This in-person event will provide clear, practical guidance on the scheme, including who is required to apply, what documentation is needed, and how agents can support their landlord clients in meeting the licensing obligations.
The session will cover:
- Overview of the licensing scheme and Home Safe’s role as the Delivery Partner
- Key scheme information relevant to agents
- Guidance on who should be the licence holder
- Agent registration process and step-by-step walkthrough
- Managing your agency account, including profile and dashboard features
- How agents interact with and support client applications
- Explanation of the licence holder application process, including when agents apply as licence holders
- Post-submission steps and ongoing compliance responsibilities
- Information on inspection programmes
- Q&A session
Places are limited, and therefore, a maximum of 2 persons per company will be allowed to book.
The information covered in this event is tailored for letting agents. Separate events are taking place for landlords on the same day. Please visit the Council's website for further information.
