The London Financial Regulation Seminar is an inter-collegiate and inter-disciplinary group of experts led by CCLS and our Institute of Banking and Finance under the leadership of Professor Rosa M. Lastra and Dr. Daniele D’Alvia.

On Monday 22 September 2025, Ms. Dorota Wojnar, Head of ESG Risks Unit at the European Banking Authority (EBA), will deliver a lecture titled “Addressing ESG Risks in the EU Banking Framework”. Professor Rosa M. Lastra will chair the event, and Mr. Riccardo Sallustio will serve as discussant.

Ms. Dorota Wojnar, leads the ESG Risks Unit at the European Banking Authority (EBA), where she oversees the integration of environmental, social, and governance risks into the prudential supervision of EU banks. She has extensive expertise in sustainable finance, financial regulation and risk management having previously worked in both regulatory and industry roles. At the EBA, she is responsible for developing methodologies, guidelines, and policy frameworks to ensure that ESG risks are adequately addressed within the EU banking system.

Mr. Riccardo Sallustio is a Partner in the Banking and Finance practice at ADVANT Nctm in Milan, specialising in leverage finance, debt restructuring, private placements, bond issues, real estate finance, and green and sustainable finance. As an expert in green and sustainable finance, Riccardo guides clients on ESG and transition due diligence, green and sustainable finance products aligned with international standards and the EU Taxonomy, and social and governance best practices. He serves as an Adjunct Professor of Green and Sustainable Finance at the Graduate School of LUISS “Guido Carli” in Rome, and he is a member of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists.

In her lecture, Ms. Wojnar will explore how ESG risks are being incorporated into the EU’s prudential banking farmwork, including the EBA’s ongoing work on risk management, disclosure, and supervisory convergence. She will address the challenges of integrating climate-related and broader ESG factors into traditional risk categories, the implications for banks and supervisors, and the broader role of EU regulation in advancing sustainable finance. Her insights will shed light on the evolving regulatory landscape and the future of ESG risk supervision in Europe.
