This online 'Virtual Classroom' workshop will allow you to interact and share good practice with your teacher and fellow students from the comfort of your own home or school.

The Virtual Classroom is 'live' and interactive with all the benefits of a real classroom. You choose how much you want to participate whether it's just watching and replying from your keyboard or sharing your own webcam and audio, the choice is yours.

In the Virtual Classroom you can:

  • Chat/send messages to everyone or to specific people
  • Interact with questions and quizzes
  • See and hear your teacher/s live as they present the workshop
  • View video clips and presentations
  • Write on the whiteboard

This workshop will cover:

Addressing the needs of pupils with Autism

  • Be familiar with the original ideas of Leo Kanner and Hans Asperger 
  • Be able to reognise the similarities and differences in the diagnosis of Auyism and Asperger syndrome
  • Reognise how the traid of impairments links to these ideas
  • Be able to generate ideas about possible strategies
  • Be able to identify ways to create an ASD-friendly classroom/learning environment
  • Be able to apple new knowledge to address potential barriers for pupils with ASD
