Event description

Description

On the 13th July, we will be holding a summit on Addressing Youth Exploitation and Violence. It follows from a series of learning events across 150 Big Local areas in 2018-2019.

The summit will update and share what is happening nationally around youth violence, the exploitation of young people, county lines and people trafficking. The summit aims to:

  • Explore the Public Health Model to reduce violence
  • Share what is happening within neighbourhoods to reduce violence
  • Inform the future learning and networking events

Who is the summit for?

The summit is for residents, volunteers and partners from across the country who are working in Big Local areas/neighbourhoods that are affected by violence and youth related crime, and who wish to:

  • Share what is happening at the local level and reflect upon what is happening nationally
  • Build an understanding of other areas and gauge what is working well in other parts of the country
  • Share, discuss and develop lessons and ideas that can be taken back to partnerships and neighbourhood
  • Explore successes, challenges and ideas for solutions

There will also be a panel questions and answers session of informed people on youth exploitation and violence both from Big Local areas and external individuals working in the field.

Who is running the event?

The event is being run by Sian Penner of Sian Penner Associates and Paul Bragman of Community and Economic Regen. They have extensive experience of working collaboratively with communities and working with the GLA on the development of the London Violence Reduction Unit, directly with communities experiencing serious youth violence and facilitating learning and networking in this area.

Cost

The cost of the day is £179 + £10.34 eventbrite fee + VAT
