Event description
ig:nite arts and Chamber Music Scotland present a night of sonic exploration and new chamber music with three composer/performers.

About this Event

Join us at The Glad Cafe for performances by Adenine, Kim Moore, and Danielle Price, which will combine acoustic instruments with electronics.

About the musicians:

Adenine:

An utterly compelling live performer who has toured world-wide, the music of Scottish harpist Adenine (aka Ailie Robertson) encompasses influences from free improvisation, drone, ambient and folk to create a nuanced sound world. Drawing from over a decades experience of performing and recording with a wide spectrum of artists and ensembles, this solo project creates rich, multi-layered soundscapes with use of an electric harp, a myriad of pedals, field recordings and a modular synth.

She captivates audiences with her gritty yet expressive electronic- and drone-inflected post-classical Minimalism, accented by a distinctive melancholic melodic sensibility that channels her Scottish folk roots.

Kim Moore:

Kim is a sound artist based in Glasgow, collaborating in new work across artforms. Blending strings with voice, synths and electronics she creates immersive soundworlds and performs as dark ambient electronic project sometimes known as WOLF. In the last year, notable highlights included collaborating with Peter Broderick in touring ‘Songs of Arthur Russell’ in the UK, working on a contemporary circus show: ‘NoseDive’ at the Barbican, London, and on theatre show: ’Mouthpiece’ at Soho theatre, London.

Kim is currently working towards a debut album release and developing new instrumental work for strings and electronics as Chamber Music Scotland artist in residence, in 2020 alongside this she will compose a new score for National Theatre of Scotland production 'The Enemy'.

Danielle Price:

Danielle is a tuba player who enjoys a versatile career playing in a range of projects and ensembles including Dopey Monkey, Pure Brass Quintet, The Sensory Illusions with Bill Wells, Blue Boar Brass, Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra, New Antonine Brass, Ntshuks Bonga's Ubuntu Series, Red Note Ensemble, The Dandelion Jazz Orchestra, traditional jazz ensembles the Copper Cats and The Red Hot Rhythm Makers as well as performing in the bands of Bill Wells & Aidan Moffat, Ashley Paul, Bella Hardy, Oxbow and as an extra musician with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra and Royal Scottish National Orchestra.

Danielle appeared in BBC Tectonics 2018 where she played in Mats Gustafsson’s PLUGS for mixed ensemble. She performed alongside Tom Poulson and Timothy Cooper as part of The Night With… programmed by Matthew Whiteside. The trio featured as part of Creative Scotland's "Made in Scotland" Showcase in the 2019 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

In April 2018, she was a featured artist in Loch Shiel Festival with tuba players Mark Reynolds and Antony Hook in a concert underneath Glenfinnan Viaduct. The trio played the music of Bill Wells in Counterflows Festival 2019.
