ADHD and Understanding Procrastination Workshop
Overview
This practical session is all about finding ways to get things done that actually work for your brain. If you find yourself putting things off, struggling to get started, or relying on last-minute urgency to make progress, you’re not alone.
This session explores why procrastination is so common for people with ADHD and what’s really happening beneath the surface. We’ll look at the main reasons tasks feel hard to start, and how to mobilise when motivation is low or missing altogether.
You’ll learn:
- Why procrastination is linked to ADHD and executive function
- What’s really happening when you can’t get started, even when you want to
- How interest, emotion, and dopamine affect motivation and task initiation
- Practical, ADHD-friendly ways to begin tasks and build momentum
- How to create realistic, flexible systems that help you follow through
We’ll spend part of the session putting these ideas into practice, giving you time to make real progress on something you’ve been avoiding.
By the end, you’ll have a clearer understanding of what drives your procrastination, what supports task initiation, and one small strategy to try straight away.
