About this event
Join us for a peer-led discussion exploring how ADHD impacts spirituality and religion with our babes - Asiya & Nicole!
The facilitators
Asiya
Asiya's late diagnosis came as a welcome relief, and allowed the continuation of many journeys of self-exploration. One of those was her faith journey, where she's been seeking a closer connection to, and stronger practice within, her religion. Through workshops on Islam with other neurodivergent babes, Asiya has started to consider the implications of ADHD on her sense of (dis)connection with her faith. With the wider questions of what her life has been, and can be, in light of what she's learned about ADHD, she hopes to keep exploring this path with you through this series.
Nicole
Nicole is a transformational life coach and consultant based in Washington, DC. Following two decades in public service with more than ten years in executive leadership, she launched her practice to combine her lifelong interest and pursuit of personal development, empowering individual clients to find and actualize their true selves, overcome obstacles, and achieve breakthroughs.
Her background in psychology and social work, as well as her in-depth post graduate study of theology, has given her unique insights into how people are often trapped by past traumas, cultural and religious programming, and limiting beliefs.
A single mother, she has experienced the end of a toxic long-term relationship as well as the death of a child, giving her great empathy for others struggling in difficult circumstances. Through self-reflection and addressing her own emotional, spiritual and wellness needs, she has gained strength, insight and independence, and a sense of personal fulfilment.
An empathetic listener, Nicole has a talent for hearing what is said as well as uncovering what remains unexpressed. Using this skill Nicole is able to deeply connect with others, build trust through compassion, and support those on their soul growth path.
Session Content
This peer-led facilitated discussion will explore the intersection of ADHD and our various religious and spiritual practices. With compassion and care, we will discuss some of the barriers we're experiencing to spiritual growth as well as some of the positive aspects of our religious and/or spiritual experiences in light of ADHD. All religious and spiritual practices are welcome.
An opportunity to submit themes/discussion points will be available when booking a ticket.
