This admission training is for schools, academies and multi-academy trusts and will cover the following areas:
- The statutory codes and other relevant law
- The responsibilities of Admission Authorities (and others)
- Preparing clear and compliant admission arrangements (including top tips relating to the most common oversubscription criteria)
- Consultation, determination, publication and variation of Admission Arrangements
- Objections to the Office of the Schools Adjudicator
- Applications in the normal admission round and in-year admissions
- Admission of children with challenging behaviour (or twice excluded)
- Admission Appeal Hearings (in summary only - not training for panel members or clerks)
Why should you attend?
Admission authorities (i.e. Boards of Trustees and Governing Bodies) have legal obligations relating to admissions under the two statutory codes. Most admission tasks must be carried out on an annual basis.
We recommend that schools start thinking about these before the end of the school year in July, to leave ample time before the Summer term ends for implementing decisions.
Who should attend?
- Headteachers
- Senior Leadership Team
- Admission Officers / Presenting Officers for Appeals
- Governors/Trustees sitting on Admission Committees
- Clerks to Governors/Trustees
