Event description
A Public Lecture by Gillian Kirkman, UK Country Director None in Three

About this Event

This lecture will initially provide a brief overview of the None in Three Research Centre’s undertaking to tackle gender-based violence in India, Jamaica and Uganda through our development of innovative computer games for young people. Our aim is to challenge current thinking and promote alternative behaviours.

The main focus of the presentation will be the work of None in Three in the UK. We will present findings from our extensive interviews with young women who have survived dating and/or domestic abuse and those who have perpetrated it. Implications for practice will be explored. We will showcase chapters from our game detailing how lived experiences have strongly influenced development of the plotlines and the characters. The research underpinning ‘pro-social’ games will also be discussed. Young people, stakeholders, advocates and educators have all been consulted in its development, and we look forward to revealing our current progress in this educative and unique intervention.

The Lecture begins at 6.30pm with complimentary refreshments served from 6.00.
