About this event

This workshop is aimed at front line practitioners who are working in Southampton with families and individuals impacted by adolescent (11-19 years) relationship abuse. It provides an overview of teenage/adolescent intimate relationship dynamics including the use of online spaces, tech abuse, sexual abuse, physical violence, controlling behaviour, and explores the impact on children and young people. The session also includes an overview of referral and safeguarding pathways within Southampton.

Learning Outcomes:

- Discuss the impact on child victims of adult domestic abuse with reference to the Domestic Abuse Act 2021

- Explore the dynamics of adolescent relationship abuse as compared with adult domestic abuse

- Consider barriers to the identification of adolescent relationship abuse

- Explore assessment of risk with reference to Risk Outside The Home (ROTH) procedures and support

- Develop an understanding of appropriate interventions and prevention

- Review referral and safeguarding pathways for children and young people in Southampton
