Adopted Adults Get Together

• Are you an adopted adult?
• Do you live in, or were you adopted from, East Sussex, West Sussex, Surrey or Brighton & Hove?
• Would you like to meet other adopted adults?

Adoption South East, in partnership with adopted adults, are offering this opportunity for people who live in, or were adopted from, the south east region. This includes Sussex, Surrey and Brighton & Hove.

Our aim is to set up safe spaces & events where adopted adults can meet each other, to share experiences and reduce the isolation that many adopted people feel. We routinely hear the phrase, “I’d love to talk to other adoptees, as they are the only ones who can understand…”

This event is our first one and we would like your views on how we can set up these groups.

There is funding for the project to start up and we would like to know how you would like this money to be spent. There will be opportunities to join a steering group for the project, and/or to volunteer to facilitate the groups.

The event programme will include:

• Speakers from national adult adoptee organisations
• Adopted people’s lived experiences
• Interactive displays about adoption in the UK
• Useful resources such as fiction, poetry etc.- please bring your recommendations
• Time to meet and talk with other adopted people
• Next steps

Refreshments and lunch will be provided.

You are welcome to bring someone with you, whether or not they were adopted.

We ask that you agree to keep other people’s confidentiality at the event and to be respectful of different experiences.
