Event description
We all have mental health. Better mental health is good for everyone and recognising this is good for society.

About this Event

The aim of the training is to assist trainees to help:

  • Preserve life where a person may be a danger to themselves or others
  • Provide help to prevent the mental health problems developing into a more serious state
  • Promote recovery of good mental health
  • Provide comfort to a person experiencing mental ill health
  • Raise awareness of mental health issues in the community
  • Reduce stigma and discrimination

Mental Health First Aid is intended for a variety of audiences. It is relevant to management and staff of all levels and disciplines and is particularly relevant for:

  • Human Resource Professionals
  • Health & Safety Personnel
  • Primary Healthcare Staff
  • Police and Prison Staff
  • School and College Personnel
  • Community Groups
  • Religious Groups
  • Any individual wishing to increase their knowledge of mental illness.

Recognised and approved by the Royal Society for Public Health, the training educates and delivers the message that mental health problems are everybody’s business; affecting neighbours, friends, colleagues, relatives and, not forgetting, ourselves.

Delivered by our expert in-house coach and wellbeing trainer Leigh Fielding, Creative Academy have trained over 100 people to become Mental Health First Aiders in 2020 alone. Ranging from our own support workers to outside business professionals, many of those who have taken part in our MHFA programmes have benefited from positive changes in their knowledge, attitude and behaviour, which has resulted in greater confidence in providing help to others and decreased social distance from people with mental health problems.

Included in the cost of the course, every attendee will receive an MHFA Workbook and Manual to work through in the session and take home to refer back to as necessary. Attendees will also receive an MHFA Zipcard and Lanyard to wear as an identifier of being a Mental Health First Aider. Finally, upon completion of the course, all attendees will be presented with their certificate confirming their becoming a Mental Health First Aider accredited by MHFA England.
