This course is designed to meet the Core Skills Training Framework (CSTF) Level 3 competencies, ensuring participants are equipped with the advanced knowledge and skills required to safeguard vulnerable adults effectively. It provides a comprehensive understanding of adult safeguarding, grounded in legal frameworks and practical application, to empower professionals in protecting individuals from harm and abuse.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the key legislation underpinning safeguarding practices, including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Human Rights Act 1998.
- Recognise and respond to signs of abuse, neglect, self-neglect, and other safeguarding concerns.
- Implement safeguarding processes, including making referrals, managing disclosures, and supporting investigations.
- Demonstrate effective multi-agency collaboration and coordination to ensure a robust safeguarding response.
- Support adults with mental capacity concerns, balancing autonomy with protection in line with the Mental Capacity Act.
- Promote ethical, person-centred approaches that prioritise dignity, respect, and individual rights.

Strategies for effective communication and joint decision-making.
6. Supporting Complex Cases
Handling disclosures sensitively and managing challenging safeguarding scenarios.
Recognising and responding to issues such as self-neglect, financial abuse, and coercive control.
7. Leadership in Safeguarding
Developing a safeguarding culture within organisations.
Understanding the role of supervision, reflective practice, and advocacy in safeguarding leadership.
Target Audience:
This course is designed for health and social care professionals, including those in leadership and supervisory roles, who are responsible for safeguarding adults and meeting CSTF Level 3 competencies.
Delivery Format:
The course incorporates a blend of theoretical learning, practical case studies, and reflective exercises to ensure participants can apply safeguarding principles effectively in their practice. Knowledge checks and interactive discussions reinforce learning and build confidence in managing safeguarding responsibilities.
This is an online session, being delivered on Monday 6th October 2025 lasting eight hours from 9.00am – 5.00pm, with breaks. We recommend that you join 5-10 minutes prior to the start to ensure your technology is working correctly as we will be unable to delay the start due to the number of delegates we anticipate attending.

Facilitator:
This course is run by Sarah Turner, MSc, PG Dip, BA (Hons), FDA, Founder of Phoenix Training & Consultancy Ltd. Sarah has 25 years’ experience in health and social care which has seen her work across sectors from primary to tertiary care with an expertise in mental health. Sarah has a proven track record of identifying service gaps and implementing successful and measurable results. These results facilitate positive change, in the form of grassroot initiatives to policy and legislative shifts including but not limited to domestic abuse protection orders.
Sarah has a unique talent which enables her to amplify the voices of individuals and communities in the house of commons and academic arenas. Educated to doctorate level, Sarah is a qualified Youth Worker, Learning & Development lead, Psychologist and Social Worker.
Sarah is a competent and confident educator with the ability to create and deliver training, she is a subject matter expert for several training companies creating and reviewing their content and runs a successful training organisation. Read more.
Refunds, Terms & Conditions:
1) Eventbrite fees are not refundable.
2) Cancellations with over a month's notice will see you being able to claim a full refund minus the Eventbrite fees mentioned in point 1. There will be the option for you to move your booking date free of charge to another available training date on the calendar if there is space available to do so.
3) No refunds will be given for cancellation at under a month's notice. It will be possible to move your booking free of charge to another available date if there are available spaces to do so.
4) If you do not attend the training, no refund will be given but it may be possible to transfer your booking in exceptional circumstances subject to discussion and availability to do so.
5) Late arrivals will not be admitted entry past 09.30 on the day of training. Moving your date to another available slot in this situation if you have missed the start time will be subject to discussion after the training event has taken place.
6) If the organiser has to cancel the training due to sickness or other unavoidable events, a full refund (including the Eventbrite fees mentioned in point 1) will be given, or an offer will be made for you to transfer your place to another date, which will be added to the training schedule with at least 2-3 months notice.
7) There is a minimum attendance of five per course, should the minimum attendance threshold not be met the organiser reserves the right to offer a place on a different date or a full refund.
