Event description
The opportunity to learn the background and legal basis for safeguarding adults at risk.

About this event

This session is delivered by experts in Adult Safeguarding working in Kingston and gives you the opportunity to learn the background and legal basis for safeguarding people at risk. This includes the Mental Capacity Act, how it works, and how we work to protect adults at risk while still ensuring those adults are able to make their own decisions wherever possible.

We will also look at the six core principles embedded in the Care Act in terms of safeguarding people at risk, such as Empowerment, Prevention and Proportionality, the types of abuse that people at risk are likely to experience, how to recognise that abuse and how to report it to the relevant authorities to protect that person.

Who should attend

This training is specifically for the voluntary sector in Kingston and we would encourage anyone working with adults at risk to attend.

Cost

This event is free to voluntary organisations based in Kingston upon Thames, and £30 to those in neighbouring boroughs.

The trainers

The session will be led by Peter Warburton, Designated Nurse Safeguarding Adults Kingston, NHS SW London Clinical Commissioning Group and Susan Fitzgerald RNLD, Adult Safeguarding & LD Nursing Lead, Your Healthcare CIC

This will be an online training session. Joining instructions will be emailed to you nearer the time.
