Advance Care Planning Training

ONLY FOR INTERNAL CHRISTIE STAFF

The aim of this course is to enhance confidence and skills in initiating and managing advance care planning conversations in order to promote patient centred care.  

Course Content

  • Ideas & strategies for initiating and discussing End of Life conversations and plans
  • Eliciting Preferred Priorities of Care (P.P.C)

This course will cover the following skills set:

  • Broaching ACP or difficult topics
  • Eliciting patient’s wishes and needs
  • Handling emotions
  • Handling difficult questions (e.g. appropriate use of hydration and nutrition at the end of life and how to discuss this with patients, their relatives and carers)

Suitable for

Any health or social care professional involved in ACP or end of life care
