Description

Advanced Development Programme

Day 1

Communication skills for supporting self-management and behaviour change: An introduction to key principles, skills and strategies (includes opportunities for experiential practice).

Aims & Objectives

The Advanced Development Programme (ADP) trains health care professionals in strategies and skills to support people with long-term conditions to optimally self-manage. It offers a fundamentally person-centred approach, aimed at developing a collaborative partnership to support behaviour change and effectively explore motivation. ADP skills support care planning, shared decision making and behaviour change.

The programme includes concepts of “Patient Activation” and draws on best practice from clinical communication skills, motivational interviewing and cognitive behaviour therapy approaches. Key theories and evidence-base are covered, and there are opportunities for experiential practice.

Lunch will be provided

Please note you need to attend day 1 and day 2 in order to complete this workshop!

Refunds will be issued if you attend both Day 1 and Day 2
