Advanced Development Programme (ADP)
ADP communication kills for supporting self-management and behaviour change: Applying key skills and strategies in clinical practice and trouble-shooting.
Aims & Objectives
The Advanced Development Programme (ADP) trains health care professionals in strategies and skills to support people with long-term conditions to optimally self-manage. It offers a fundamentally person-centred approach, aimed at developing a collaborative partnership to support behaviour change and effectively explore motivation. ADP skills support care planning, shared decision making and behaviour change.
The programme includes concepts of “Patient Activation” and draws on best practice from clinical communication skills, motivational interviewing and CBT approaches. Key theories and evidence-base are covered, and there are opportunities for experiential practice.
