This online workshop will introduce you to new sources to help explore your family history.

About this event

Aimed at those of you who already know the basics to tracing your family history, this session covers electoral registers, marriage licence bonds and tithe documents. A number of the items included are only available in the Norfolk Record Office searchroom in person.

Our one hour online introductory workshops include

  • A talk on how to use Norfolk sources for your research
  • A chance to ask questions during the session
  • A workbook containing workshop notes and a practical activity
  • A chance to view some of our Website Tutorials explaining how to use various websites to locate and access the documents mentioned (these are also available via our YouTube channel)

The workshops are completely free of charge and focus on sources that you can access from home.

Norfolk Record Office (NRO) collects and preserves unique archives relating to the history of Norfolk and makes them accessible to people all over the world. 

 

The events listed here are run from our base at The Archive Centre, Martineau Lane, Norwich.   Free parking is available at County Hall for Archive Centre users. All visitors must report to the security kiosk at the car park entrance to obtain a visitor’s parking pass.

 

For events at Norfolk Heritage Centre, please contact heritagecentre@norfolk.gov.uk, for events at King's Lynn Borough Archive please visit storiesoflynn@west-norfolk.gov.uk. Our staff also attend public events and give talks/run workshops in other locations around the County; from local libraries to village halls and other meeting places.
