The Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI), leaders in their field for delivering training specific to this subject will provide in depth information for those responsible for Modern Slavery and ethical procurement in their institutions.

The one-day session will explore how your institution can improve practices that tackle the root causes of modern slavery in your supply chains and you will receive expert, practical guidance on how you can use due diligence to identify risks before they occur and how to remediate when issues become evident.

The training will be delivered by Linda Shaw who has extensive experience in both education and research within the university and adult education sector, involving global supply chains and international development. She has worked for universities, NGOs and organisations at the UK, European and wider international level.  Additionally, Dr Olga Martin-Ortega from the University of Greenwich will feed into the content development to ensure it builds on (not repeats) existing knowledge.

Registration from 9am ready for a 9.30am start with a finish time of 4.30pm.  A buffet lunch is included.

Please ensure you have read the Cancellation Policy before booking.

Higher Education Procurement Association (HEPA)

HEPA is the network for procurement professionals in the HE sector. It was created as a result of the challenge set out in the Diamond Report to enhance the expertise and capacity of university procurement.

HEPA aims to:

  • Work to enhance individual competencies, knowledge and skills in procurement practices by providing face to face courses, e-learning, regional networking, competency frameworks, and much more
  • Provide leadership development programmes and learning opportunities
  • Develop and maintain an online repository of resources and information covering areas such as best practice, benchmarking, templates, and news
  • Provide procurement support beyond finance and procurement teams, including for procurement colleagues in HR, estates, IT, research teams and those with purchasing authority in academic departments.

HEPA is directed by the HEPA Management Board, and supported by a permanent member of staff, procurement specialist Emma Keenan.

It is delivered collaboratively by BUFDG and the HE purchasing consortia.

Procurement Maturity Assessments (PMAs)  are also available to all institutions, offering low-cost, detailed assessments of procurement capability to benchmark performance and drive improvement. Your PMA report will also help identify areas of the Academy that you may benefit from using.
