This 2-day course will cover the skills, strategies and processes involved in commercial negotiation. We will look extensively into Negotiation tactics and behavioural aspects, and building skills with video-based role-play. Day One will be theory based interspersed with practical exercises. Day Two will consist of recorded role-plays using case studies. The program also provides a refresher in the core elements such as the pillars of negotiation, persuasion techniques and phases bringing these into a procurement context.


Key Objectives:

- Understanding their typical behaviour and that of the persons they are dealing with both internally and externally

- Understand and use a variety of behavioural skills to deal with aggressive/manipulative persons whilst still maintaining their emotional balance

- Embed negotiation principles, tactics and persuasion methods

- Understand that a variety of negotiating styles/relationships are required when dealing with different products/suppliers

- Have a broader view of the benefits of setting a range of objectives, understand the process of conditioning and appreciate the mechanics needed to control a negotiation

- Understand the power of information and of active listening in conjunction with use of appropriate questions
