The newly created Advanced Piano Teachers' Course offers training for experienced and committed piano teachers. In addition to deepening and extending your teaching and pianism, we will help prepare you for any UK licentiate diploma if you choose to undertake one at the end of your studies. We have an exceptional team of Principal Tutors and guest lecturers, and in addition to course days spread over ten months, you will have regular access to your own personal tutor across 12 months.

Module 1:Planning and reflecting on your teaching

In this module you will be asked to do three case studies across three or more months and one of these case studies will be assessed.

Module 2: Expanding your piano teaching knowledge

You will be required to present a review of chosen teaching resources or resources you have created yourself and produce an essay outlining your approach to key aspects of piano teaching.

Module 3: Deepening your musicianship and pianistic skills

This module includes three performances and, in addition to preparing for the performances, you will need to submit written analyses for each of your chosen pieces as well as programme notes.

Module 4: Strengthening your professional understanding and profile

In this module you will produce a robust, licentiate level professional portfolio. You will also be asked to research areas of special interest to you and present and discuss your findings with the tutors and your fellow course students.
