Event description

Description

Following 2016's success, the University of Manchester, Diamond Light Source, CCPi (the Collaborative Computational Project in Tomographic Imaging) and 3dmagination Ltd are pleased to announce their second annual workshop on Advances in X-ray Imaging.

The aim of these workshops is to bring scientists from different fields to discuss current developments and applications of a variety of X-ray imaging techniques, and to build international collaborations.

Presentations will illustrate current achievements and future developments in techniques such as correlated tomography, ptychography, fast imaging and reconstruction algorithms. There will also be an update on complementary neutron imaging techniques available on the new IMAT beamline at ISIS.

Speakers, from a range of international imaging facilities, include:

  • Asa Barber, School of Engineering, University of Portsmouth, 'Correlating X-ray imaging with additive manufacturing'
  • Darren Batey, Beamline I13, Diamond Light Source ‘Ptychography: Looking beyond the lens’
  • Tim Burnett, Henry Moseley X-ray Imaging Facility, University of Manchester ‘Multiscale 3D microstructure analysis with site specific targeting through correlation of X-ray CT and FIB-SEM serial sectioning'
  • David Eastwood, University of Manchester, 'Time resolved imaging of runaway failure'
  • Joe Kelleher, ISIS Neutron & Muon Source, STFC Exploiting the wavelength dimension of neutron imaging for seeing composition and crystallography’
  • Andy King, Soleil 'Combining tomography and diffraction at the PSICHE beamline, SOLEIL'
  • Margie Olbinado, ID19, ESRF Million frames per second hard X-ray phase contrast imaging using synchrotron radiation’

The event will be hosted in the G59 Lecture Theatre of Diamond House at the Diamond Light Source.

Tickets are limited and entrance is through registration only. There is no charge for registration.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Posters are encouraged and poster prizes will be awarded.

More details will be provided to registered participants closer to the date of the event.

On the day before this workshop, 12th June, the CCPi are also running informal fringe discussions involving the visiting speakers. Workshop attendees are very welcome to participate. Further details for that event are linked here. Overnight accommodation can be booked at Ridgeway House for participants intending to take part in both activities.
